Associazione Calcio Milan (dipanggil A.C. Milan atau Milan saja) adalah sebuah klub sepak bola Italia yang berbasis di Milan. Mereka bermain dengan seragam bergaris merah-hitam dan celana hitam, sehingga dijuluki rossoneri (“merah-hitam”). Milan adalah tim tersukses kedua dalam sejarah persepak bolaan Italia, menjuarai Seri A 17 kali dan Piala Italia lima kali.

Klub ini didirikan pada tahun 1899 dengan nama Klub Kriket dan Sepak bola Milan (Milan Cricket and Football Club) oleh Alfred Edwards, seorang ekspatriat Inggris. Sebagai penghormatan terhadap asal-usulnya, Milan tetap menggunakan ejaan bahasa Inggris nama kotanya (Milan) daripada menggunakan ejaan bahasa Italia Milano.

Stadion dan basis pendukung

Stadion tim saat ini adalah Stadion Giuseppe Meazza yang berkapasitas 85.000 orang. Stadion ini juga dikenal dengan nama San Siro. Stadion ini digunakan bersama dengan Internazionale (“Inter”), klub besar lain di Milan. Suporter AC Milan menggunakan “San Siro” untuk menyebut stadion itu karena dulunya Giuseppe Meazza merupakan seorang pemain bintang bagi Inter. Tetapi, di masa mendatang, ada wacana untuk memindahkan homebase Milan ke stadion baru, seperti yang diungkapkan wakil presiden Adriano Galliani pada tahun 2006.

Secara sejarah, AC Milan (dipanggil dengan “Milan” saja di Italia) didukung oleh kaum pekerja dan kelas buruh di Milan (umumnya merupakan para pendatang dari daerah Italia selatan), sementara Inter lebih didukung orang-orang kaya. Meskipun begitu, pada beberapa tahun terakhir, basis pendukung telah banyak berubah. Menyusul keributan dengan suporter Inter pada derby musim kompetisi 2005/2006, Fossa Dei Leoni membubarkan diri secara organisasi. Masa kejayaan Milan di era sepak bola modern adalah pada awal dekade 90-an ketika merajai Liga Italia di bawah asuhan Arrigo Sacchi, dan diteruskan oleh Fabio Capello. Puncaknya, Milan merebut trofi Liga Champions pada tahun 1994 dengan mengalahkan Barcelona di final. Sepeninggal Capello (yang menyeberang ke Spanyol untuk melatih Real Madrid), Milan terus menurun dan baru bisa meraih gelar juara Liga Italia pada musim kompetisi 1998/1999 di bawah asuhan pelatih Alberto Zaccheroni. kemudain digantikan oleh pelatih asal Turki, Fatih Terim. Pada musim kompetisi Liga Italia Seri A 2006/2007, Milan terkait dengan skandal calciopoli yang mengakibatkan klub tersebut harus memulai kompetisi dengan pengurangan 8 poin. Meskipun begitu, publik Italia tetap berbangga karena di tengah rusaknya citra sepak bola Italia akibat calciopoli, Milan berhasil menjuarai kompetisi sepak bola yang paling bergengsi di dunia, Liga Champions. Hasil itu didapat setelah Milan menaklukkan Liverpool 2-1 lewat dua gol Filippo Inzaghi. Gelar inipun menuntskan dendam Milan yang kalah adu penalti dengan Liverpool dua tahun silam. Gelar pencetak gol terbanyakpun disabet pemain jenius Milan, Kaká dengan torehan 10 gol. Pada pertengahan musim, Milan mendatangkan mantan pemain terbaik dunia, Ronaldo dari Real Madrid untuk memperkuat armada penyerang mereka setelah penyerang muda Marco Borriello dihukum karena terbukti doping.

Pada musim 2007/2008, Milan akhirnya harus bermain di kompetisi Piala UEFA setelah hanya berhasil menduduki peringkat ke-5 dibawah Fiorentina dengan selisih 2 poin. Dalam pertandingan Serie A yang terakhir, AC Milan menang 4-1 atas Udinese, tapi di saat bersamaan, Fiorentina juga menang atas Torino dengan skor 1-0 yang akhirnya posisi kedua tim tak ada perubahan. Untuk memperbaiki performa di musim berikut (2008/2009), Milan membeli sejumlah pemain baru, di antaranya Mathieu Flamini dari Arsenal, serta Gianluca Zambrotta dan Ronaldinho yang keduanya berasal dari Barcelona. Pada transfer paruh musim 2008-2009, Milan mendatangkan David Beckham dengan status pinjaman dari klub sepakbola Amerika Serikat LA Galaxy

About Clarence Seedorf: Born in 1976 Clarence Seedorf emerged as a talented midfielder playing for Ajax Amsterdam during the early 1990’s. His strength and footballing ability made him a key member of the Ajax squad which secured two Eredivisie titles in the mid 1990’s together with the Champions League in 1995.

In his first season with Real Madrid Seedorf tasted success yet again as he helped the team to regain La Liga for the Madrid faithful. In 1998 he was an integral member of the Real Madrid team which secured the Champions League title.

A move to Inter Milan during the 1999-2000 season heralded hopes of great things to come at the Italian club however despite being eager for success Seedorf could not help bring any major silverware to the club.

After two years at Inter Seedorf moved to city rivals AC Milan in 2002 and quickly enjoyed success again when AC Milan won the Copa Italia in 2003 together with the Champions League. This was Seedorf’s third Champions League medal and put him firmly in the history books as the first and only player to date to win the UEFA Champions League with three different clubs.

Seedorf plays for the Dutch national team and despite being out of favour for a period when Marco van Basten took over as national coach his ability and talent have earned him a call back to the international squad.

About Ronaldo:

After playing one season for Cruzeiro in Brazil, Ronaldo made a £4m move to PSV Eindhoven in Holland after the 1994 World Cup and it was in Europe that he began to make a name for himself as one of the world’s most exciting young talents.

FC Barcelona took him to Catalonia in Spain for a season in 1996 where the then 20 year old fitted easily into a team with a distinct Brazilian flavour which saw him score 34 goals in 37 appearances (47 in 49, including appearances in the Copa del Rey and European Cup Winners Cup) in that one season.

In 1996 Ronaldo became the youngest ever winner of the FIFA World Player of the Year trophy and cemented his reputation as one of the world’s finest players by retaining it the following year.

After only one successful season in Spain, Ronaldo moved to Internazionale of Milan in Italy. His time in Italy was again full of goals but serious injuries and defeat in the 1998 World Cup Final following a pre-game fit made the next few years a less than enjoyable time for Ronaldo.

After two operations on his damaged right knee and nearly two years of rehabilitation Ronaldo made him comeback in time for the 2002 World Cup Finals in Japan and South Korea. Written off as past his best following the severe injuries he’d suffered, Ronaldo scored eight goals including two in the final to take the World Cup back to Brazil for a record fifth time. To cap it off he was always awarded his third FIFA World Player Of The Year award for 2002.

A $39m move to Real Madrid followed the World Cup after he fell out with officials and management at Inter and he quickly joined the growing band of “galactico” stars at Real Madrid’s Bernabeu Stadium.

Despite winning the La Liga title in 2003, Ronaldo hasn’t really refound the sparkling form he displayed in his early career and even after scoring a record 15th goal in the World Cup finals in Germany 2006, Ronaldo cut a lonely figure as Brazil crashed out and his proposed move to AC Milan collapsed.

About Andriy Shevchenko: Andriy Shevchenko began his sporting career as a competitive boxer but he was forced to abandon the sport in his early years due to his size and stature and thus began his illustrious footballing career.

Shevchenko developed his talents in his early days through the youth system at Dynamo Kiev and he made his debut for the first team in the 1993-1994 season helping Dynamo to their second successive league victory. Shevchenko excelled at Dynamo and this is evidenced by the fact that he won the League title in each of his five seasons at the club. Shevchenko became a key member of the first team and flourished as one of Dynamo’s best players.

In 1999 Shevchenko made a high profile move to Italian side AC Milan with a price tag of a cool £26 million. Shevchenko made his debut in Serie A in August 1999 and managed to score 24 league goals in 32 matches thereby collecting the Serie A scoring title with ease. Despite Shevchenko’s impressive goal tally AC Milan did not win any silverware until the 2002-2003 season when the won both the Serie A and the Champions League. Shevchenko became a hero at AC Milan and he is their second all time goalscorer being out scored only by the legendary Gunnar Nordahl.

In May 2006 Shevchenko realised the fears of the AC Milan faithful when he announced he was leaving the club. He signed for Chelsea in late May 2006 for an undisclosed fee which is rumoured to be between £30 million and £56 million. Shevchenko scored his first goal for Chelsea on 13th August 2006 but has found himself suffering from a scoring drought in the English Premiership leaving many believing that he may not be totally happy in England.

Shevchenko’s talents have also been widely recognised in the international field where he plays for the Ukraine national side. Currently he has amassed 71 caps and 33 goals for his country and was recently an instrumental part of the team that competed in the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

About Kaka: Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite, or Kaká as he is better known, began developing his football talents at an early age in Brazil. However his footballing career was nearly brought to a premature end when in September 2000 at age 18 Kaká suffered a possible paralysis-inducing spine fracture as a result of a pool accident. Despite this career threatening injury Kaká made a full recovery and made his debut at Sao Paulo FC in 2001.

Kaká scored 22 goals in 49 appearances for Sao Paulo FC over the next two seasons attracting attention from the major European Clubs. AC Milan won the race for the young man’s signature and Kaká joined the Italian club in 2003 for a fee of £8.5 million. Kaká settled into life at the San Siro quickly and became a first team regular in his first month at the club. Kaká managed to score 10 goals in 30 appearances for Milan in the 2003-2004 season assisting the club to lift the Italian Serie A title and the European Super Cup.

Kaká’s career has flourished at AC Milan and his skills and talents were widely celebrated by the footballing world when he was awarded the Best Midfielder of the Champion’s League tournament in the 2004-2005 season, this despite Milan being beaten in the final by Liverpool. Kaká’s sparkling displays of footballing genius in the midfield position have seen football pundits drawing comparisons to Diego Maradona.

In 2006 Real Madrid set the football press gossip columns alight when they enquired about signing the Brazilian star but they were rebuked by Milan who insisted Kaká was not for sale. Kaká ended all speculation by signing a new contract with AC Milan keeping him at the San Siro until 2011.

Kaká has become an integral part of the Brazilian National team from first making his debut back in January 2002 and he even played a role in Brazil’s 2002 Fifa World Cup win. Kaká has matured into a midfield dynamo for Brazil and is currently considered as one of the national team’s best players. In the Fifa World Cup 2006 Kaká scored Brazil’s first goal of the tournament but despite a strong start in the group stages Brazil were knocked out by France in the quarter finals.

most capped player and he has been captain of the team for more than
